You will seamlessly move between the new and the old sites. The home page has many new features, including the sidebar you see on the right. I’ve placed the main menu at the top of the page. In addition, the menu on the home page and major section pages will function like an abbreviated site guide; each selection on the dropdown below the main menu item will tell you a little about what you’ll get when you make a selection.
Your feedback is welcome. Please email the webmaster.
As you may know, Dartmouth was one of nine universities to receive a proposed “Compact” (the “Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education“) from the federal government. On its face, the Compact is coercive and invades the College’s academic freedom. A group of over 30 Classmates spontaneously decided that we should send a message to the Trustees and the President.
The letter is the product of numerous digital discussions among those classmates. It’s impractical to engage in further editing. If you agree with our position, we hope you will authorize us to add your name to the signature list. Time is of the essence, so please let us know by 6 PM on Thursday October 9. We will send the letter immediately thereafter. Additional signatures received thereafter will supplement the initial list. To add your name, please email Jim Lawrie. Read the letter.
The highlight of the weekend will be a class dinner and Give A Rouse (GAR) Award ceremony.
Don’t miss it! Get the entire schedule or select the Class Activities Calendar button in the right sidebar. We’ll see you there!
200 Classmates Have Signed
In light of the Trump administration’s ongoing attacks on academic freedom, The Class of 1968 addressed a letter to President Beilock, the Board of Trustees and the General Council for Dartmouth encouraging a steadfast defense of academic freedom. The letter was recently featured as an ad in the digital edition of the Daily Dartmouth and as a half page ad on the front page of the print edition of the D. More than 30% of our classmates signed the letter at the time of publication! It’s not too late to sign; send a note to Peter Wonson. While Columbia capitulated to Trump’s demands, Harvard, today (4/14/25), refused to acquiesce to Trump’s demands.
